"Hey everyone, this was a very personal story to share. I want to give a big thanks to the actors that contributed their time to it. Nitrous was a character I created in middle school and to bring her to life through Kelly's performance was truly amazing. Thanks for the support and enjoy the video!"

-Shane Hernandez

Prompt:
Choose a single, life-changing moment from your life. Create an avant-garde self-
portrait about it in the most abstract way you can imagine. How can you illustrate
how this moment affected you without a literal representation of the event? What
colors, shapes, lines, movement, and sounds takes us into the inner emotional
landscape you have charted for us?

Steps:
• Write a half a page description of a life-changing moment. We will discuss this
moment in class extensively.
• Bring in a collage of images on a singular .pdf page
• Consider visuals that you film + found footage + abstract colors, shapes to tell
this story
• Create a sound scrape that will also convey this story – you can use effects from
the internet or our sound library

Parameters:
• Build a multi-layered soundtrack to take the audience into the emotional
the landscape of the film.
• No synchronous dialogue, i.e., someone speaking on camera
• Voiceover is allowed; consider when and where you need it
• Visual effects are allowed; use thoughtfully
• Have fun and experiment with things you haven't tried before!
• 2:30 - 3:00 minutes maximum.
